Brandon’s history began on January 20, 1857, when John Brandon arrived at Fort Brooke (now Tampa) from Mississippi with his wife and six sons. After originally settling in what is now the Seffner area, John Brandon purchased 40 acres in New Hope (now Brandon). Later, he purchased an additional 160 acres and collectively referred to his land as “Brandon”. The Brandon family home was located on what would become the corner of Knights and Victoria Street.
The City of Brandon has several lakes, state parks, camping spots, entertainment venues and various other places of interest. With the completion of the Leroy Selmon Crosstown Expressway, Brandon residents can quickly and easily access downtown Tampa. Brandon home prices start in the mid-$100,000′s to the multi-millions. Brandon homes are available in traditional subdivisions or more private settings with a single home sitting on several acres of land.
